A good book

I just finished re-reading 'The Catcher in the Rye'. It's so weird and really, really good. Holden is so crazy yet so easy to identify with, especially for us outcast types. I can see why it's Billie Joe's favorite book. I read somewhere that it also influenced Kurt Cobain. I think you can't help but feel affection towards Holden. You have to wonder if he would think you were a phony and whether he would like you or hate you. He's really messed up in a lot of ways although he tries to do what he thinks is right. I'd like to write a female version of the book someday. Or at least a short story from the point of view of a female Holden Caulfield. Someday.
Here's my favorite line from 'Catcher'. It's just after he has that weird encounter with his old teacher.

"I know more damn perverts, at school and all, than anybody
you ever met, and they're always being perverty when I'm around."

HA! That's so funnily put and probably true for so many of us.

A movie review

I saw Bridge to Terebithia over the weekend. I'm not going to give away the ending. I first read the book when I was in the 5th grade. I've read it several times since and it never fails to make me cry. I was worried that the movie would be stupid and that there was no way it could live up to the book. Surprise, surprise. It did! I spent the last 20 minutes or so of the movie wiping tears off my face. Now that's what I call a good movie! I can't wait to own the DVD. Truly one of the best movies I've ever seen!

Just some stuff, odds and ends

I just found out there's a new Alkaline Trio album out. I can't wait to hear it. I was going to buy it on iTunes (instant gratification, I love it!) but I found out there's a DVD too, so I'll get it at the store.

Green Day has a cameo in the upcoming Simpsons movie (don't ya just love it when your favorite things come together?). I am SO already there!!! Same goes for the Harry Potter movie. I hardly ever go to the movies but I've already got 2 planned for the summer.

I miss Top Chef. But Wednesdays will soon be my favorite TV day again. New season of South Park next week! YES!!!!!!! The greatest show ever has returned!

I was looking at some other blogs and on this one, this girl said she wanted to lose her virginity to one of the guys in System of a Down and I was like "Ewwwww." But then I thought about it and I SO totally want to lose my virginity to Taylor Hicks that it's not even funny. I know some people (maybe a lot) would say "ewww" to that one so I guess everyone has their own tastes. Eminem used to be my guy of choice and I used to daydream about him all the time.
